Applied Crystallography - Reports outline applied crystallography study results from A.J. Allen et al
2008 NOV 3 - (VerticalNews.com) -- "Results are presented for an in situ synchrotron-based ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering (USAXS) study of the solution-mediated formation and growth of nanocrystalline ceria (n-CeO2) using a new remote-controlled, isothermal, circulating fluid flow cell. The fluid flow mitigates or reduces X- ray beam-induced damage, air bubbles or particulate flocculation within the bulk solution, but prevents any coarse particulates that do form from settling out from suspension," scientists in the United States report ...read more
Applied Crystallography - New applied crystallography study findings recently were published by B.S. Seong and co-researchers
2008 NOV 3 - (VerticalNews.com) -- "Small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) and neutron powder diffraction (ND) techniques were used to study quantitatively the effect of nano-sized precipitates and boron addition on the mechanical properties of low-carbon steels. SANS was used to evaluate nano-sized precipitates, smaller than about 600 A in diameter, and ND was used to determine the weight fraction of the cementite precipitates," scientists in South Korea report ...read more
Applied Crystallography - Research on applied crystallography published by scientists at University of Hamburg
2008 SEP 8 - (VerticalNews.com) -- "A method for collimation correction and combination of anisotropic scattering patterns recorded in tandem experiments is proposed. It includes both an advanced two-dimensional extrapolation procedure for the center of the pattern and (compared with the 'blind deconvolution' method) a more justified procedure for desmearing from an unknown broad primary beam profile," researchers in Hamburg, Germany report ...read more
