Atomic Science - Scientists at Henan Normal University detail research in atomic science

2008 SEP 29 - (VerticalNews.com) -- According to recent research from Xinxiang, People's Republic of China, "This paper describes a new method using TiO2 nanotubes, a new material, as solid-phase extraction adsorbent for the sensitive determination of trace copper prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) analysis. Important parameters, which would affect the enrichment performance such as sample pH, the eluent and its volume, sample flow rate, sample volume, and concomitant ions have been optimized, respectively The experimental results exhibited that copper could be adsorbed quantitatively on TiO2 nanotubes at a pH of 7.0, and easily eluted with ethanol. ...read more

Atomic Science - New atomic science study findings recently were reported by researchers at Wuhan Polytechnic University

2008 SEP 29 - (VerticalNews.com) -- "The possibility of using modified carbon nanofibers (CNFs) as solid phase extractants for the speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) has been investigated by a microcolumn coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Experiments were performed to optimize conditions, such as pH, sample flow rate, sample volume and concentration of eluent, to achieve the quantitative separation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI)," investigators in Wuhan, People's Republic of China report ...read more

Atomic Science - Studies from B.N. Gikal and co-authors have provided new information about atomic science

2008 JUN 9 - (VerticalNews.com) -- According to recent research from Russia, "An accelerator complex has been developed on the basis of the DTs- 60 cyclotron for performing scientific and applied research and for commercial application in nanotechnology. The complex was designed and constructed at the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research for the Interdisciplinary Scientific and Research Center at the L. N. Gumelev Eurasian National University ( Kazakhstan). ...read more
